Spring & Easter Decor
I felt so compelled to decorate my home with spring items this past week when the weather turned cold again after we had a taste of spring. One week it was 60 and sunny, the next it was 30 and snowy. Minnesota, ladies and gentlemen. Besides the weather, we are hosting my husband’s family for Easter this year and I wanted my home to be festive. Take a look at what cheerful, green accents I’ve added to my home as spring & Easter decor.
Like my back splash? Thanks! I painted it myself.
That painted rock is always part of my home decor. Click here to find out why.
I love these complementary colors! The spring green accents my red front door well.
And now a quick photo tutorial…
DIY EASTER EGGS & NEST
One thing I created to add some Easter elegance was a faux birds nest complete with speckled eggs. I used mismatched old plastic eggs like the ones kids use for egg hunts. First, I gathered my supplies:– 7 plastic eggs
– ivory gloss spray paint (get one that says it bonds to plastic)
– a tooth brush
– speckle color brown
– plastic container to spray into (eggs don’t stick to plastic like they would cardboard)
– ivory gloss spray paint (get one that says it bonds to plastic)
– a tooth brush

– plastic container to spray into (eggs don’t stick to plastic like they would cardboard)
I sprayed the eggs in the container, waited a minute or two, shook the eggs around and sprayed again.Remember, lots of light layers, not heavy coverage.
Once the eggs were completely painted ivory and dry, I dipped my toothbrush in the brown paint and speckled them by running my finger across the brush bristles. It helps to water down the brown paint so it is thinner. When I was done speckling all sides, my eggs looked so cute! You can still see the seem, but I still think they are an adorable decor item for Easter.
Now I had to make a nest! I gathered long dead leaves from my garden day lilies last year about 12-18″ long. Then, I laid them in a line and tied around the bunch every four inches with a metal twist tie like I use on my homemade wreaths. I shaped it into a circle and then made two more, shaping those into smaller and even smaller circles. Then I twist-tied all three together and it looked pretty good!
Well, this just proves it. I’m not a bird.
I filled the bottom of my little bucket with recyclables.
I set my nest on top and placed in my eggs. Then I added a few leaves from my front entrance decor (pictured above) to give the display a little color.
Sorry for all the pictures! I’m just a little “egg”cited about how adorable my little nest turned out.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoyed my ideas for spring decor. Let me know if anything inspired you!
The eggs are quite cool, with how you have them placed the seam looks like a piece of straw across the egg. I’m going to try this idea, when I find some plastic eggs.
Thank you Anji!
Ok this is really cool!! Could I get a link to the paint you used? Thank you:)
