Nursery Decor Baby Shower Gift
Sunday I attended a baby shower for a babe whose gender was unknown. In order to be gender neutral, I avoided clothes or toys, and created unique nursery decor to give as a baby shower gift. As with many of my projects (especially recently with this sign and this clock), my idea started with a pallet…

I used my chop saw to cut three boards the same length and two boards for across the back to hold them together.

I nailed in the two shorter boards across the back.
I sanded the whole piece and dusted off. Sanding smooths the wood and opens the wood grain to prepare it to absorb stain.

Next I stained the piece using “Java” colored stain and an old rag to apply.
After staining, I drew two feet on the sign and filled the footprints in with white paint.

My husband didn’t realize they were supposed to be baby feet until I pointed out all the wrinkles!
Lastly, I came in with a silver paint pen to write a sweet quote and add a heart between the footprints.

I love how the stain took to the wood grain. This color was from just one heavy coat of stain!

This quote I found fitting for the couple anxiously awaiting their new baby as both are rather ambitious people.

Be sure to share if you liked this baby shower gift idea! Do you have some sort of sign as part of your nursery decor? What are some of your favorite baby related quotes?
Thanks for reading!
