Install a Vinyl Privacy Fence Backyard Makeover
Our exterior has seen more upgrades since the huge house renovation last fall. This summer I put in a stepping stone path to the square fire pit, built new front steps, and installed a 6′ vinyl privacy fence. Today I will share with you these three DIY’s!

Stepping Stone Path
I love how my square fire pit turned out, but I also felt it was floating in the middle of the yard. To make the placement seem more intentional and inviting to those coming out of the house, I decided to add a pathway. These large concrete squares I picked up secondhand for $1 a piece. They weighed 70 lbs each! Moving these around was a strenuous job, but quite easy. Since the stones were so thick, they’re unlikely to move and I did not see the need to put a compacted layer of base underneath them.
This project ended up only taking one day!
Vinyl Privacy Fence Installation
The most dramatic change to our exterior was the vinyl privacy fence we recently installed in the backyard. If you remember, when we renovated we switched which side of our house was the front elevation. After removing the old driveway and getting the grass there to grow, I wanted privacy and clarity for our new backyard. The reason we wanted the driveway off that road was because it is pretty busy! As our backyard, this busy road didn’t feel safe for our kids to be playing near.
With the 6′ vinyl privacy fence we installed, our backyard is now safe and all the cars driving by are completely out of view! The fact that it is vinyl means it’s ultra low-maintenance and looks nice on both sides. Plus it has the most beautiful wood grain look in the color Seasoned Pine. Backyard Makeover
All in all, the vinyl privacy fence install transformed our backyard more than anything! But the new steps bring a warm welcome and the stepping stone path a bit of charm to the other things we have going on outside. I hope you’re excited about these big projects I tackled this summer!
