In reply to Dorothy. Thank you Dorothy! Yes, the room has a bump-out in the wall because it is a bi-level, split foyer floor plan. The whole basement has that around the bottom half of the wall. You have great ideas! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Did the room come framed out that way? I love the way the mural is out from the wall and you can place items on it. How far out does it stick out? That would be perfect for my grandkids room I am fixing up in my house. My granddaughters have moved past Dr. Seuss (it makes me so sad i love his books!) And they both love the Disney princesses. I could see alot of possibilities for decorating a edge(for lack of a better name) like that in their room. I could see doing a recessed castle to hold the many princess dolls we have over here for when they come or even a recessed book shelf! It’s just beautiful! You did a wonderful job!

Thank you for the heartfelt compliment! I think Dr. Seuss’s whole point in his children’s books was to ignite children’s imaginations. Making a colorful and interesting room for your children is doing just that and I think Dr. Seuss would be supportive of that goal, even if it meant cutting up pictures in his books. Good luck with your nursery!

I am so jealous of your painting / drawing skills! You are amazing! I am currently planning a Dr Seuss nursery, and I love many of your pieces (especially the table / chairs and the dresser), but I have absolutely NO drawing ability! I am having to resort to stickers and buying Dr Seuss books at the used store and cutting pictures out of them 🙁 It breaks my heart to have to destroy his work. Anyway…. I think you did an amazing job on this room. Way to go!
