Home Renovation Update
Hey y’all! It’s been a while since I checked in with you so I wanted to give you an update on our home renovation. I’ve been SO busy! I feel like summer has completely flown by because my to-do list is never ending.
Here’s what I’ve DIY-ed so far this summer for our home renovation:
- Fabricated our kitchen counters out of solid surface mostly by MYSELF (3 weeks).
- Installed the faucet and sink from Vigo Industries by myself (1 day).
- Built garage shelves so we could get stuff out of the way for our garage transformation (4 days).
- Installed wood ceiling to continue through space where wall was removed (2 days).
- Hung drywall on the ceiling and two walls of our new dining room space (4 days).
- Taped, mudded, and sanded all the joints of said drywall (1 week).
- Primed and painted all the walls in the dining room and spots we drywalled (ceiling, around front door, patch jobs, etc) (2 days).
- Removed all the flooring throughout the 1000 square foot main level of our home (1 day).
And that brings me to today. You will notice I wrote how long it took me to complete each project I worked on so you get a sense of how long it actually takes me to do all this almost all by myself. Those estimates don’t even include all the trips to the hardware store or time it takes to plan. I haven’t had many days off! Here’s a LIVE video I shot on Monday to walk you through what the house was looking like at the beginning of this week. Since this video I’ve painted and removed the floor.
BUT this Sunday we are taking a little trip as a family to get away. Thanks to Great Wolf Lodge, we’ll be staying at their waterpark and enjoying some time away from the chaos and dust. I can’t wait!
When we come back, big changes will be happening! The siding crew will be here this coming week to upgrade all of our soffits, facia, gutters, and siding to be brand new! Tuesday our flooring guy is coming to get started fixing the subfloor. I am so thankful we have the financial means to hire some of this out. The parts I’m doing are exhausting enough.
If you’ve ever lived through a major renovation you know how I’m feeling. I can’t wait to be on the other side enjoying our dream home! Don’t forget to follow my Facebook page to stay up to date with my latest videos and my Instagram to see behind the scenes footage in my stories.
How courageous you are to undertake such a huge renovation! You are doing such a beautiful job! I love your new range and your wood ceiling! Your porches are great! I can’t wait to see it all completed!
Thank you so much Kay! Those two things are two of my favorite! 🙂
