Dresser to Bench Makeover
So, if you’ve been reading my posts, you know I painted all the window trim in my house white when we replaced our windows. Well, I got a little excited after how beautiful those new windows looked, I decided white was the new best thing. I used my leftover paint to revamp a very outdated dresser to a gorgeous, functional bench.
I am a Craigslist addict. I could probably tell you a million and one tips about scoring awesome deals on Craigslist. This dresser was one of them. It was from the 80’s and had an odd shape to it. Lifted off the ground by flimsy supports, it was an awkward height. It had ugly hardware and cobwebs all over it. Anyways, I offered the guy selling it $20. He delivered it to my house as well.
What I saw in this dresser was clean lines, lots of storage, and a great paint job waiting to happen. I took off all the hardware (easy) and the back lip thing (two screws) and asked my neighbor to help me with his circular saw to cut off the 6 inch bottom. When the piece was stripped of the weird additives, it really had a modern look. Now all I had to do was paint.
I’m an old fashioned painter. I sand, I prime, I paint, I protect. I do not like products that skip all these steps because I don’t have faith they will hold up to wear and tear. It took me a week to complete this baby (hey I had a 10 month old) and it looked like this:
Ahhh, that’s better!
Crisp lines in a clean white. Right now it lives in the room of our house my husband uses as an office. It has so much storage for toys, board games, and extra blanket and sheet sets for guests. I love this piece of furniture now that it has been redone and updated!
I hope you liked this dresser to bench makeover! Remember to share this post to social media!
