Painting Rocks
My toddler loves to paint. It is probably because she witnesses Mommy painting on one thing or another almost every day. I grew up artistically inclined and I remember my older sisters and I painting on rocks. Painting rocks is a low cost craft you can do with your kids!
Check out these welcome rocks I did for our front step:

What a fun and inviting way to welcome people into your home!
My favorite painted rocks project I did was a going away present for my best friend. He was heading off to medical school in Kansas City and I knew I wanted to get him something sentimental to remember me by when he was away for long periods of time. I found two large rocks that somewhat fit together and I painted them. I drew our state shapes on each rock with sharpie and hearts where our cities were. Then I connected them with a dotted line and wrote a great quote I found. “Your feet don’t ground you, your friends do” pertains not only to our down-to-earth friendship, but to the fact it is written on solid ground itself, a rock. I keep the Kansas one in my living room and think of my friend every time I pass it. He keeps the Minnesota one in his apartment to remind him of home. Such a simple, sweet, and basically FREE gift you can give a friend.
