Somfy Motorized Smart Shades

I am so excited about the newest upgrade to our home! We have been so busy working on the lake house, that some attention to our home was needed. I partnered with Somfy and Union Place Interiors to install some brand new Somfy motorized Smart Shades.

Automated Window Treatments

Our old shades were poor quality cheap roller shades that opened abruptly and were frayed on the edges. I also disliked that every time I would roll them up, they would get slightly off track. You might remember last summer when I was pregnant, we put motorized screens on our front porch with Somfy. I’m so excited to be working with them again! Somfy is a company that makes automated products for a smart home. You can get a variety of window treatments like shades, blinds, curtains, and more. I loved working with Somfy and every installer I’ve talked to says they are the best in the business. I personally have always wanted automated shades because they are so convenient for everyday use. We just got all of our bedrooms installed with Somfy motorized smart shades that are so easy to use with the touch of a button. It is simple to adjust the lighting in a room or make our house more private and safe. These smart shades are a luxurious new aspect to our home has made our house so much more comfortable.

The Smart Shades I went with were fairly plain roller shades in a white fabric for the kids bedroom. Then for the master bedroom, I chose an upgraded woven beige fabric that turned out beautiful. Union Place helped pick out the style and install the shades. I chose a blackout roller shade perfect for sleeping and the facia that houses the roller and motor blends in perfectly with my window casings!

How They Work

Every room has a button by the light switch that can control the motorized shades up, down, or to stop anywhere in between. They even got me a remote for the master bedroom that has controls for each bedroom. This is great for me, so I can control my kids’ smart shades, too. We also have a button by our front door that you can press to put all the shades down! This is awesome for when you are leaving on a hot summer day because the smart shades prevent the sun from streaming in and it keeps the house cool. Or vise versa in the winter: I can send the shades up to let the sun in and warm up the house.

The shades are super easy to maintain, too! The motors never need a replacement battery because they have a plug in that charges them. I highly recommend using Somfy for any of your motorized needs!
