10 Reasons I’m Grateful to be a Mom
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is one of the few holidays I feel is centered around something extremely universal: giving thanks. Every person in the world has something to give thanks for, even if it may not seem like it. This holiday helps us search out our blessings and find a humbled perspective on life. I know I am one blessed woman. I have SO MUCH to be thankful for it seems daunting to list it all. So, I decided to write out the ten things I am most thankful for about being a mom to narrow it down. I think this post is a good start to my Thanksgiving weekend which I hope will be filled with gratefulness and contentedness. I also hope this post gets you thinking about what a blessing being a parent is and prompts you to give thanks for your children today.
1. My early riser who never lets me miss a sunrise.
My 1 year old son always gets up around 6:30 or 7, just before the sun rises. Every day I wake up and watch the sunrise cuddling my baby.
2. My daughter’s sense of adventure and spontaneity.
My daughter thrives on new experiences. She loves to be out and about, doing something. It helps me stay busy because I know she’ll be happier and better behaved. She keeps me happy, too, because I also love to be out and about.
3. My son’s appetite.
After having a rather picky eater for my first, I feel so grateful for my son and his monstrous appetite. My boy will eat anything and everything and it makes meal times so much easier!
4. The inspiration to be a better and healthier cook.
I have never enjoyed cooking. Since I had kids, I have been way more concerned with eating healthy, home cooked meals because your children eat what you eat and follow your example. After three years of this, I have learned to enjoy cooking more and my children are an inspiration for a healthier lifestyle. Here’s a gallery to strut my stuff a little bit.
5. My children’s love of the outdoors.
This picture says it all. We love to spend time outside together and I’m so grateful!
6. The hug and kiss when we say goodbye.
Recently my 1 year old son started giving kisses and hugs. Whenever someone is leaving the house, he insists on saying goodbye to them, standing at the top of the stairs and crying until they bid him farewell. My daughter also asks for her hug and kiss every time she is left with a babysitter. I appreciate this indication that my kids enjoy being around me and that we have a loving gesture when we part ways.
7. My daughter’s interest in reading.
My daughter has always enjoyed reading books. I’m thankful her love of reading has fostered great communication skills and given her a personal hobby at a young age. I’m grateful for all the children’s book authors who write stories that captivate my daughter’s imagination.

8. My children’s desire to be helpful.
My kids love to be helpful and do chores around the house. I’m grateful for this attitude because I know their willingness to help out will not last forever.

9. Snuggles on Sundays.
Sunday is our lazy day and we always spend at least a half hour snuggling on the couch, just the four of us. I cherish those moments so much!
10. That fulfilling joy they bring into my life.
Above everything else, I’m just most grateful for my children themselves. Their being alive means I have a larger responsibility, a fulfilling purpose, and someone to improve for. Becoming a parent has inspired me to push myself to be my best possible self. I try to be fair, strong, collected, fun, compassionate, basically an all around role model. This is a snowball effect; I already love my children, but they also help me love myself. And in loving myself more, I have more love to give back to them. My children, their unique selves, are so inspirational and for that I am eternally grateful.
